Calling all young carers – NHS England wants to hear from you! Led by young carers, for young carers.
NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Department of Education and a group of young carers are working together to improve the lives of young carers across England. We want to understand how schools and health services can work together to better support you, but right now we don’t know who all of the young carers are and not everyone is being supported. We can only make changes by hearing from you about what really matters, and about your experiences of being a young carer.
We are holding a series of online workshops, led by young carers, to hear your voices.
These will be held on:
16th December 2025 4pm – 5pm and 6pm – 7pm
17th December 2025 6pm – 7pm
6th January 2026 4pm – 5pm and 6pm – 7pm
The information we hear will be used to make changes to the lives of young carers across England.
Get involved, and book your space on a workshop by emailing the NHS England team at england.nhsthinkcarer@nhs.net

The Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) is an online self-assessment tool to help adult social care providers in England to store and share information safely.
It shows you what you need to do to keep people’s information safe, and to protect your business from the risk of a data breach or a cyber attack. It covers both paper and digital records.
It also reassures everyone you work with that you are taking data security seriously, which in turn can open up access to NHSmail and shared records systems such as GP Connect and proxy access. Care providers must have an up-to-date DSPT in place to meet NHS contracts – and local authorities and CQC inspectors increasingly expect you to have it.
Care providers should complete the toolkit at least once a year.
It will cover how to:
- Register for the DSPT – including how to register if you have multiple services and sites
- Complete to Approaching Standards and Standards Met
- Publish your DSPT
- Access free, official support from the Better Security, Better Care programme.
For further information visit the DSPT pages on digitalcarehub.co.uk

Schwartz Round: Caring for Ourselves and Each Other
Winter can bring a complicated mix of emotions, especially for those working in health and care. For some, this season offers moments of calm, reflection and comfort; for others, it can feel heavy, exhausting or isolating. The shorter days, colder weather and the ongoing pressures of supporting patients/service users, families and colleagues can quietly take their toll on our mood, motivation and wellbeing.
Even those who usually feel resilient may notice their energy being stretched as the months go on.
This Round provides a compassionate space for health and care staff to pause and reflect on how the winter months affect us - both in our working lives and in our personal worlds. It’s a chance to share experiences, listen to one another and explore how we care for ourselves and each other when things feel harder.
Together, we’ll reflect on the small moments that sustain us during the darker months: the kindness we offer to patients/service users and colleagues, the conversations that help us feel understood, and the ways we nurture connection, hope and compassion - even on the coldest days.
Join us as we reflect on the challenges, opportunities, and realities of caring for ourselves and others through the winter months. Open to all staff working or volunteering in Kirklees and Calderdale Health and Care Services and South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Health and Care Services.
What Are Schwartz Rounds? – A Summary
Schwartz Rounds provide a confidential, safe space for health and care staff to come together and share the emotional and social aspects of their work. Unlike clinical discussions that focus on patient outcomes, Schwartz Rounds allow staff to explore the personal impact of their roles, fostering reflection, connection and support.
Key Features of Schwartz Rounds:
Storytelling and Reflection: A small panel shares real experiences related to a chosen theme, followed by an open discussion.
Supportive and Non-Judgmental: No pressure to speak — attendees can simply listen.
Cross-Disciplinary: Open to all staff, regardless of role or seniority.
Benefits of Attending:
✔ Reduces Stress and Isolation – Helps staff process the emotional challenges of their work.
✔ Builds Compassion and Connection – Encourages understanding across teams.
✔ Supports Wellbeing and Resilience – Provides a space to pause, reflect and feel valued.
Who Can Attend?
Offering a unique opportunity to share, listen, and strengthen workplace culture in an environment of mutual respect and support, our Schwartz Rounds are open to all health and care staff and volunteers in Kirklees and Calderdale Health and Care Partnerships and South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Health and Care Services -

Making Documents and Information Accessible
Making sure your information and content is accessible is most importantly about valuing and respecting people. Making sure people are included.
Feeling like you belong and can join in (inclusion) is a key factor to good health and wellbeing.
If your information and content is accessible:
• People with disabilities or impairments are less likely to be excluded. This includes staff in our organisations. Everyone will be able use the content in a similar amount of time and with the same level of effort.
• People in our communities can use and understand health and care information more easily. They can make better informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
• Organisations receiving public funding will meet their legal obligations.
Accessible information helps everyone
• Helps people work, use services, and make decisions like anyone else
• Removes barriers to important information
• Makes content easier to share, translate, and adapt for different needs
• Saves time, money, and resources
• Essential for disabled people and useful for everyone
If you are interested in learning how to make your posters, leaflets, meeting minutes, newsletters, training content more accessible for your colleagues and others, then:
• Join us at our online webinar on “Making your documents and information accessible” on Monday 23rd February from 10 a.m. till 12 noon, online via Teams.
• If you would like to book a place please visit:

GOLD conference 2026
Registrations are open for Bild’s Growing Older with Learning Disabilities (GOLD) Conference 2026, ‘Connected Care: Good health and growing older across health and social care’, taking place online on Wednesday 25 February 2026.
This year’s online event explores good health for people with learning disabilities, and how health and social care can work together to achieve it. Taking a broad, integrated approach, the event will share insights from both sectors, highlight work that brings them together, and consider how each sector can learn from the other to support wellbeing at every stage of life.
Alongside a focus on ageing and later life, we’ll also discuss the role of neighbourhood and locality-based initiatives in promoting inclusion, connection, and health within communities.
Join us to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and advance a shared vision of better health for people with learning disabilities throughout the lifespan.
